Offshore contractor Allseas has awarded Remazel Engineering a contract for the supply of the Launch and Recovery System for its polymetallic nodule collection vessel “Hidden Gem”.

Allseas is developing a deep-sea mineral collection system to responsibly recover polymetallic nodules from the ocean floor and transfer them to the surface for transportation to shore. The nodules contain high grades of nickel, manganese, copper and cobalt — key metals required for building renewable energy technologies and storage technology such as electric vehicle batteries.

The Launch and Recovery System will be used for over-the-side deployment of Allseas tracked subsea collection vehicle.
